Evolution: The Darwin in You and Me
Tuesday, February 10, 2009“Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.”
~Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin no doubt was a man of science. His Theory of Natural Selection sparked controversies during the Victorian era and continues to do so to this present day. His published works, although written in a more concise and less run-on style, are not easy reads.
TRUST ME. I know.

the page length does not sound as bad, right? Wrong.
600 pages =death
(no further explanation needed, your honour)
So what else do we know about this evolutionary celebrity? For one thing, Darwin was a dropout of med school because he was plainly bored with his studies, and preferred to spend his time collecting and studying beetles. The only reason he attended it was at his father’s persistence. He was this bored-genius-nerd, so to speak who’d rather hunt for beetles than force himself to sit and listen to his professors’ boring lectures.
But seriously, if u were a student and a big time procrastinator who wants to vomit university education out of your system, wouldn’t you want to go out into some god forsaken forest and hunt beetles instead of being forced into something you do not want to do? We all would rather want to do something different with our lives and understandably, those choices we make impact not only ourselves but perhaps also this world, we homo sapiens have been dwelling in. Like Darwin, we all inevitably suffer from ignorance. We can never escape it, rather, the only thing we can do is to learn from our experiences and evolve into something better.
Darwin certainly was not the first to say that mankind was not created perfect. He did, however, reminded us of this fact, how our imperfections and our mistakes ultimately create the path towards learning and further understanding of this world we all live in.
So advanced Happy Birthday Mr. Darwin, a cheers to you… cheers to all of us wanting to dropout of this University of Life… and cheers to those who are truly committed to making our homo sapien world into a better place…
