 The belly rules the mind.

 ***

I woke up today and had a huge craving for mouth-watering food at Cafe Crepe’s. I have not been there in ages, more like a year. Ever since I moved to the suburbs, I have found it quite difficult to stay regularly in touch with my favourite restos in downtown Toronto. And one of them is Cafe Crepe.

Located near the strip of downtown’s entertainment district, this place has been a part of my new world adventures as a landed immigrant in Toronto. I used to frequent this place every week with my highschool friends where, “penniless” as we were, six of us would still manage to order three

to four platters of different varities of crepe and pass it around like hungry hyenas to share. (My favourite and usually order was a un crepe avec fraises, nutella et la banena with a side order of moka de cafe.)

(LEFT) An outside view of Cafe Crepe, right on the corner of Queen Street West and John Street. (RIGHT) Half-emptied Cafe Mocha on the upper-left corner, and my favourite Banana and Nutella Crepe on the lower-right corner

Those were the days indeed…  Now, us six, have our separate lives. I still see half of those people around at least a few times a year, but it’s just not the same as before. Four of us remained in Toronto to pursue our post-secondary studies, one has gone to Waterloo (3-4 hrs away from Toronto) and one is now faraway in Calgary. At some point, we all are bound to leave our highschool lives behind. We start craving for something new, something better, and just that something all students of life start craving for. One way or the other, we all wake up from our dreams and  eventually smell the coffee of a new morning. Now, as I think about sitting inside Cafe Crepe to eat my usual order while listening to some jazz music, I know that a sense of fulfillment, rather than nostalgia will surround me. Those people never truly left, we just all have different aspirations and paths to take now.

Osgoode Station, the subway stop to get to Cafe Crepe

However, I do hope I can bring my parents there soon. They’re not really the downtown type of people cause, one- it’s too far from where we live, two- the traffic is horrible and three- plainly, IT’S just TOO FAR. There is always the subway but then, they’re not really transit people… My mom has been there I think but that was AGES ago… probably like 3-4 years ago. In any case, those who are planning on visiting Toronto should check out Cafe Crepe and the rest of Street it’s harboured in. It’s really nice street to stroll around for shopping and eating most especially during summertime.

I mean food and shops? What else can you really ask for?

Probably for more money  =]

Mataas na paaralan (high school). Mga karanasan ng kabataan. Mga sulyap sa patutunguhan at mga babalikan. Ito ang panahon nang pagbuo ng mga paninindigan upang humarap sa mga hamon ng buhay.
